Obsidi.com is BPTN’s multi-sided networking platform and community that allows members to network, learn, grow and level up their careers. Corporate partners come to Obsidi to attract, hire and retain Black talent. Members can customize their profiles, upload resumes, find jobs and attend events.
You can become a member by using your social media credentials or email. Here’s how:
a. Become A Member Using Social accounts
- Click the become a member button.
- Select your preferred social network (LinkedIn, Google or Slack).
- Input your credentials for the selected social network and sign in.
- Accept permissions to share data.
- Input your first name, last name, and select the appropriate answer to the question ‘Are you a member of the black community?’ then click save.
- Click the link to complete your profile.
b. Become A member using Email
- Click the become a member button.
- Click the Mailbox icon.
- Input your email address, password and confirm the password.
- Click the send code button. A confirmation code will then be sent to your email.
- Access your email and copy the confirmation code. Note: the code expires within 90 seconds. If the code expires, click the resend code link.
- Input the confirmation code and click Become a Member.
- Input your first name, last name, and select the appropriate answer to the question ‘Are you a member of the black community?’ then click save.
- Click the link to complete your profile.
Yes. You can use Google, LinkedIn or Slack credentials to register.
Obsidi needs your permission before we can access your information.
Your profile will not be created. You can still become a member by using your email address.
Click the Become a Member button on the Obsidi homepage then click the mailbox icon. Click the Member Login button on the Obsidi.com homepage and this will take you to the mailbox icon to enter your details. Click resend code after entering your credentials.
Confirmation codes expire after 90 seconds, so click the resend code button to receive a new one.
Absolutely. Your ability to sign-up and engage on Obsidi is not dependent on your ethnic or racial affiliations. While our immediate focus is on providing a safe space for Black professionals to collaborate, network, and explore career opportunities, we encourage allies to be part of our community.
Passwords must include a combination of one upper case and one lower case letter, one special, one number and a minimum of 8 characters.
A password reset can only be done by members who registered using their emails. You can reset your password on the web by clicking the drop-down menu on the top right corner or on a mobile device by tapping your image on the top left corner to view the menu. Select change password; enter your new password, confirm the new password, then click submit.
A password reset can only be done by members who registered using an email. If you are unable to log in because you forgot your password, click forgot password, enter your email and click send reset password. Check your email for a ‘please reset password’ notification from Obsidi by BPTN. Click reset password from email; enter a new password; enter confirm password and click submit.
Upload a profile photo and resume then answer ALL the questions in the profile section to complete your profile.
Ensure your photo is 5MB and the file is in a png, jpeg or jpg format.
Only doc or pdf file types with a 5MB limit can be uploaded.
You can upload your resume to your profile. To do this, click on the pencil icon on the name card on the Tea Spot page or profile page, then click on the pencil icon in the Job section then scroll down to upload your resume.
You can upload up to four images with a maximum size of 1MB.
1MB for images and 50MB for videos.
Only one video can be uploaded per post.
Posts having more than 60 characters will have a read more notice.
Posts are limited to 1200 characters.

Obsidi comes from the word Obsidian. Obsidian is a black rock that removes negative energy. Obsidi is the place for Black tech professionals to connect at scale. It’s a marketplace to network, build community and level up your career.
Obsidi is available via a web application that can be accessed using any of the existing web browsers. Plans are in the works to launch a mobile application.
Yes, Obsidi has replaced the existing BPTN Community Slack channel. With Obsidi, BPTN can scale the engagement and partnership with leading organizations seeking to increase its engagement with and recruitment of Black professionals working in tech-enabled industries.
Our product and engineering teams have developed Obsidi in compliance with industry best practices and standards. Our team of technical partners regularly conduct security reviews to ensure potential threats are identified, and such risks are mitigated.
Users will be able to make connections (invite, send, accept, or block), send direct messages to other registered users, post content (including editing and deletion of posts), and upload resumes.
No. As of today, 98% of our community members are based in Canada and the USA. We also have community members who are based in Europe and Africa.
Yes. Users will be able to report inappropriate content. We are committed to ensuring that the platform is a safe space for all users.
Yes. Registration for all BPTN events will be available on Obsidi.

There is a glossary of terms that defines what each feature or term means.
If a post is deemed to be inflammatory or inciting, the post will be deleted and the user cautioned. A user who repeatedly violates our policies will be banned from the platform.

This happens when you click on an Obsidi link from your email app and your email app tries to open a browser. Simply copy the Obsidi link and open it in a new web browser.
- Go to your Obsidi profile and click “Invite Peeps” under your name.
- Copy the personalized URL generated and share it with your friends.
- When 5 of the friends that you invited join Obsidi - both you and your friends will get 1-year free access to a free LinkedIn Learning license.
You’ll receive an email from BPTN x RBC Future Launch with instructions to activate your LinkedIn Learning membership within 5 to 7 business days. Yes. If you became a member of Obsidi on or after March 1, 2022, you qualify for a LinkedIn Learning license. An email will be sent to the email address you registered with on Obsidi.com within 5 to 7 business days. No. The offer began on March 1, 2022. Any member that joined Obsidi through your invite before March 1 would not count.
The LinkedIn Learning license is valid for one year.
You can give feedback to our Obsidi team in three ways:
- When logged into Obsidi, click on the dropdown menu on the navigation bar or side menu on mobile, then click feedback. Select from the list of responses, add your message, upload an image if any, and click submit.
- If you are logged in, scroll to the footer of obsidi.com and click contact us. Add your name, email address and your message, then click send.
- You can also contact the Obsidi team by sending an email to info@obsidi.com.
Completing your profile is easy! There are a few steps you need to take to complete your profile.
- Upload an image of yourself. Have a little fun with it, and don't forget to slay!
- Add your first and last name. Gotta make sure we're on a first-name basis, you know?
- Add your age and gender.
- Add your location. If you're looking to add some flavor to your posts, why not include your location? it's a great way to connect with other people in your area.
- Add a headline. This is what people see when they first glance into who you might be as a person.
